new SARCOA facility in Dothan

Have you heard? Construction on the new SARCOA facility in Dothan will begin early this year. The facility will provide much-needed space for the Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging (SARCOA).

About the future facility

According to reports, the Houston County Commission recently approved the request to lend SARCOA a portion of the building funds.

SARCOA serves Houston, Henry, Geneva, Dale, Covington, Coffee, and Barbour counties. They currently manage 36 senior centers within the seven Wiregrass counties.

Hence, a new SARCOA facility in Dothan will help keep up with the growing number of seniors served in our region and beyond.

The site for the new SARCOA facility in Dothan will be right next to the current building on South Brannon Stand Road. As of now, construction is expected to take a few years before completion.

More about SARCOA

SARCOA provides and connects seniors as well as those with different abilities to services, programs, and benefits, all of which are aimed to help said individuals maintain a happy and independent lifestyle.

Programs include a range of areas, from helping participants remain at home safely to keeping seniors active to aging and disability resources and more.

Location

The current SARCOA facility in Dothan is located at 1075 S. Brannon Stand Road, which is about seven-and-a-half miles away from Meadow Ridge Apartments. Again, the new facility will be located next to the site of the current facility.

Summary

A new SARCOA facility is just one of many signs of progress happening around Dothan.
