More about KC and The Sunshine Band

Created by Harry Wayne Casey, known as KC, and Richard Finch in 1973, the fledgling group was joined by guitarist Jerome Smith and drummer Robert Johnson. After first releasing a few singles, the band finally made the charts in the U.S. with the release of their second album, KC and the Sunshine Band, in 1975.

The band’s musical sound is described as a “fusion of R&B and funk, with a hint of a Latin percussion groove.” Clearly, with more than 100 million records sold, nine Grammy nominations, three Grammy awards and an American Music Award, KC and The Sunshine Band still appeal to music fans across the world!
